BOGUS BASIN WELCOMES 80th ANNIVERSARY SEASON WITH EARLY “SOFT” OPENING, LIMITED TERRAIN
BOISE, Idaho (November 16, 2022) Boise, Idaho – Bogus Basin announced today it will ease into winter operations this weekend with three chairlifts and three conveyer lifts, marking the earliest opening at the not-for-profit recreation area in 28 years.
“Our team remains committed to bringing the winter experience to the community as soon as it is safe to do so,” said General Manager, Brad Wilson. “With snowmaking, we now have more control over our opening date. We are thrilled to share the exciting news that Bogus Basin’s 80th Anniversary Season will launch on November 19th, our earliest opening date in 28 years.”
The soft opening includes seven trails (Alpine, Showcase, Bogus Creek, Upper & Lower Ridge, Sourdough, Stewart’s Bowl and Coach), an industry leading terrain park, and 20 km of Nordic trails. The opening is limited to eligible season pass holders. A restricted quantity of 100 reduced price lift tickets is available online, advance purchase only.
Earlier this month, a series of storms dumped over three feet of snow at the area. More recently, cold and dry conditions that are ideal for snowmaking set in, allowing enough snow to accumulate to open top-to-bottom runs served by the Deerpoint Express, Showcase and Coach chairlifts, and all three conveyer lifts.
Area officials consider the limited opening an opportunity for employees and guests to acclimate to new RFID technology installed at the area over the summer. The new system allows pass holders and guests to access the lifts with their season pass or lift ticket in the pocket of their jacket. “This technology is new to everyone, and we ask guests to be patient as our seasonal employees get to know the system,” said Wilson. “Ultimately, it will make for a much more seamless user experience at the lifts.”
