September 27, 2016 (BOISE, ID)– The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) has completed their routine investigation into an August 1, 2016 incident at Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area. The accident occurred when a lift maintenance platform fell to the ground, injuring two employees. In an informal meeting earlier this week, Bogus Basin agreed to pay a fine of $6,500.00 and fully cooperate with a proposed set of abatement measures to assure the highest level of compliance with safety standards.
“We are glad that our employees are expected to make a full recovery from the injuries they sustained in this incident. Our team is now focused on working together and with OSHA to make sure that an event like this doesn’t occur again,” said Brad Wilson, General Manager.
The employees were on a work platform performing routine maintenance on the Showcase lift when the accident occurred. The platforms are designed specifically for maintenance, and are different than the chairlifts that transport the general public.
