December 7, 2013 (BOISE, ID)– The snow has arrived and Bogus is ready to welcome the first boarders and skiers for the 71st season. Opening day is Sunday, December 8, 2013 beginning at 9:00am and closing at 4:30pm. Last season, the mountain opened on December 21, 2012 and had more than 230,000 skier visits.
Snow accumulation will allow for the opening of Deer Point (#1), Showcase (#4), Coach (#7), and both moving carpets. Day tickets will be discounted to $25 and then adjusted as more lifts are made available based on snow conditions. Starting Monday, December 9, 2013, and throughout the weekdays, operating hours will be 10:00am to 4:30pm.
“Recent snow storms have provided Bogus with the snow needed to open the Deer Point side and we will open more of the mountain as snow continues to accumulate. During the off-season we’ve been cutting brush to increase skiable terrain and we’re also extremely excited about lighting of Mambo Meadows– that will provide nighttime use of the Mountain Dew Terrain Park. Services available include lessons with the Ski & Snowboard School, equipment rentals, the Nordic Center, and Simplot Lodge with full food service– including the world famous Bogus Burger. Pioneer Lodge will be open for locker room access only and Morning Star (#2) will open once conditions allow. The tubing hill currently is not open. Bus services will begin on Saturday, December 14, 2013.
Beginner skiers and boarders can take advantage of the Winter Passport program that provides four sessions, lift tickets, and equipment rental. Upon completion of the lessons, a complimentary season pass is awarded. The Ski & Snowboard School averages 27,000 students per year– 70% of those are kids.
