December 28, 2022 (BOISE, ID)– Bogus Basin will host a New Year’s Day fireworks show, torchlight parade, and other activities on Sunday, January 1, 2023. The events are part of a season-long celebration of the non-profit’s 80th Anniversary.
The festivities are planned for January 1st in the Simplot Base Area. Guests can listen to music and enjoy free cookies and hot chocolate while waiting for the 6:15 p.m. torchlight parade to snake its way down the slope. Other events include “Ski 360 Degrees of Bogus,” an activity that includes taking a photo in front of all of the chairlifts. Participants who complete the challenge will receive a commemorative 80th Anniversary pin, while supplies last.
The Grand Marshal of this year’s Torchlight Parade is Bogus Basin General Manager, Brad Wilson. Wilson joined Bogus Basin in November 2015 and has led the area through a period of significant growth and change. Improvements such as snowmaking, summer activities, and a range of other enhancements have strengthened the operation, transitioning it from a one-season business model into a year-round destination for the community.
“We are excited for the community to join us in celebrating 80 years of Bogus Basin,” said Wilson. “It’s an honor to participate.”
Bogus Basin’s 80th Anniversary Season launched on November 19, 2022, the earliest winter season opening in 28 years. Guests are enjoying a number of new upgrades, including runs, expanded night riding, improved beginner terrain, and RFID gates that provide seamless access to the lifts.
NEW YEAR’S DAY SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
- -9:00am – 10:00pm: Operating Hours
- -9:00am – 4:00pm: Ski 360 Degrees of Bogus (complete the challenge for a prize)
- -3:30pm – 7:30pm: DJ/Music in the Simplot Base Area
- -5:15pm – 6:15pm: Free hot cocoa and cookies at the Simplot Base Area tent
- -6:15pm: Torchlight Parade
- -6:30pm: Fireworks
About Bogus Basin Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area is a 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to engaging the community to provide accessible, affordable, and fun year-round mountain recreation and education. Opened in 1942, Bogus Basin offers 2,600 acres of daytime skiable terrain, and 165 acres for night skiing; eleven lifts and three people-mover carpets; an 800-foot tubing hill.
