March 14, 2019 (BOISE, ID)– Bogus Basin announced today that the Morning Star Chairlift (Chair #2) at the nonprofit recreation area will be replaced with a new, high speed detachable quad. This will be the first new chairlift for the area since 2011, bringing the total number of high speed detachable quads to four. Construction will begin this spring and is expected to be complete by early December, in time for the 2019-20 winter season.

The Morning Star Chairlift services mostly beginner terrain, and also provides access to the more advanced terrain located on the backside of the mountain. The new high speed detachable quad will double the carrying capacity, and reduce the ride time from eleven minutes to just over three minutes. The Riblet fixed grip chairlift being replaced was originally installed in 1965, and was rebuilt in 1999.
Additionally, Bogus Basin will completely regrade and widen the Pioneer Trail located off of the Morning Star Chairlift this summer. This will create a long novice trail ideal for instruction and progression from the Coach beginner area.

Bogus Basin’s 2018-19 winter season opened on December 6th, 2018 and will continue through Sunday, April 14th, 2019. The area continues to enjoy excellent skiing and snowboarding conditions following significant snowfall throughout February.
About Bogus Basin Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area is a 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to engaging the community to provide accessible, affordable, and fun year-round mountain recreation and education. Opened in 1942, Bogus Basin offers 2,600 acres of daytime skiable terrain, and 165 acres for night skiing; eleven lifts and three people-mover carpets; an 800-foot tubing hill.
