June 16, 2015 (BOISE, ID)– Local nonprofit, Bogus Basin, will spend the summer looking toward the future by conducting a feasibility study to identify “what is possible and why” for the mountain’s future.
The recreation area, which will celebrate its landmark 75th anniversary in 2017, engaged industry veterans SE Group to conduct the study, which was made possible by a grant from the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation and donations from the City of Boise and a private donor.
The “Beyond 75” Feasibility Study will include an in-depth analysis of the current operations, market conditions and opportunities for enhancing the customer experience. Findings will inform decisions about operations and the direction of the organization.
Bogus is a powerful economic development asset to the Treasure Valley– an average of 280,000 people participate in recreational activities on the mountain each year. Continuing this tradition is foremost on the minds of its leaders, yet Bogus Basin faces some challenges.

In addition to the feasibility study, public input is highly encouraged throughout the duration of the study including through an online survey at bogusbasin.org. Stakeholder meetings and public open house events are planned for late-summer.

Bogus Basin is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to engaging the community to provide accessible, affordable, and year-round mountain recreation and education. Opened in 1942, Bogus Basin offers 2,600 acres of daytime skiable terrain, and 165 acres for night skiing; seven lifts and two people-mover carpets; and an 800-foot tubing hill. The Nordic Center offers 37 kilometers of groomed trails. Summer activities include mountain biking, amphitheater events, disc golf, private events, and hiking.
