July 18, 2018 (BOISE, ID)– Bogus Basin is planning a fun-filled weekend of free community events. This Friday, July 20, mountain biking enthusiasts are invited to the nonprofit recreation area to celebrate International Ride MTB Day, a global effort to engage and encourage participation in the sport. And Saturday marks the third installment of the free “Music on the Mountain” concert series, featuring live music from the Simplot Base Area stage from 12:00pm to 6:00pm.
Activities for current and aspiring mountain bikers are planned in the Simplot Base Area for Friday’s International MTB Day. All guests will have free access to the Deer Point Chairlift from 11:00am to 7:00pm. Guided rides down the mountain will take place at 1:00pm, 2:00pm, and 3:00pm from the bottom of Deer Point Chairlift. Local bike shops and community organizations will have booths set up in the Simplot Base Area for demos and information.
“Bogus Basin is capturing the enthusiasm of the Treasure Valley biking community by developing more useable terrain and activities on the mountain,” said Bogus Basin spokesperson, Jamie Zolber. “This summer we created a community bike race series, and we are now in the process of developing a mountain bike school, complete with instructors, lessons, and clinics.” The mountain bike school will be modeled after Bogus Basin’s Ski and Snowboard School, which serves over 24,000 students each winter. Bogus Basin’s growing network of multi-use trails, which cover more than 37 miles of terrain, has become an increasingly popular destination for residents and visitors to the area.
Saturday’s Music on the Mountain event includes free live music from the Simplot Base Area from 12:00pm until 6:00pm. Headlining act, Low-Fi, will play from 4:00-6:00pm. The Double R Ranch BBQ Smokehouse, featuring full food and beverage service, will be open from 11:00am to 7:00pm, and other food offerings will be available in the Simplot Base Area as well.
