October 25, 2020 (BOISE, ID)– Bogus Basin announced today that snowmaking operations have begun in preparation for the 2020-21 winter season. With overnight temperatures dropping as low as 12 degrees, conditions were optimal for making snow. Over a million gallons of water was blown onto Coaches Corner, Lower Ridge, and the tubing hill.
“Our team did a great job with the first snowmaking effort of the season,” said Director of Mountain Operations, Nate Shake. “We will continue to take full advantage of the cold weather forecasted into next week by making snow around the clock as long as temperatures allow.”
The snowmaking began at about 5:00pm on Saturday and continued into Sunday. Coaches Corner, Lower Ridge, and the tubing hill will continue to receive snow this week. Operations will then shift to the upper and lower ridge, once the cold temperatures return.
Over the summer, Bogus Basin laid more than 11,000 feet of pipe, doubling the number of trails that could be opened with snowmaking. That additional capacity, along with predictions of a La Niña weather pattern, have officials at the area feeling very optimistic about a snowy 2020-21 winter season for Bogus Basin.
