Today’s Guided nature Program…

This field-centered program will seek to enhance the creative skills of the individuals drawn to photography as a means of capturing and sharing the beauty and wonder in nature. Since our special interest is the wealth of flowering plants found in and around Bogus Basin, there will be an emphasis on close-up techniques, composition, and lighting. While DSLR and mirrorless cameras with interchangeable lenses and tripods are encouraged, many smartphones and compact cameras may be a great starting point for many people. This wildflower photography program is only one of the many guided nature programs offered this summer.

Meet your Guide!

Hit the trail with Ray Vizgirdas, retired Wildlife Biologist and lifelong Naturalist for this installment of our Guided Nature Program series. With over three decades of experience working for state and federal agencies, Ray knows a thing or two about the outdoors (he has literally authored guidebooks about the flora at Bogus Basin!). On Saturday mornings/afternoons and Tuesday evenings, Ray covers a new topic relevant to the time of year. Whether it’s wildflowers and edible/useful plants or nature photography and animal behavior, you’re bound to learn a thing or two on your outing.
