For those who have been with us all-season-long, you know we’ve been keeping track of this season’s greatest hits each month. With the winter season officially over, we’re pleased to share the 2023-2024 Winter Season Wrapped!
From those who did the most with low tides in December, to those who helped us set record-breaking visitation in January– from repeat recreationalists in February, plenty of snow for all types of mountain-goers in March, and Spring conditions (plus 25″ of fresh snow!) in April– the 2023/2024 Winter Season saw no shortages of snow or fun.
As we bid farewell to snow-capped views in exchange for wildflowers and warmer months ahead, we give thanks for the support, mountain conditions, happenings, and community that made it all possible. Keep reading for a compilation of this season’s most notable highlights.
COMMUNITY
This Winter Season:
- 431,991 of you visited the mountain. On January 7th 2024, Bogus Basin set a record for the single largest visitation day in the mountain’s 81-year history, welcoming 9,440+ visitors, 7,600 of whom were season pass holders.
- 416, 693 of you rode Downhill on skis or a board.
- 125,702 of you rode under the lights, opting in for twilight and moonlit runs.
- 10,307 guests explored the Frontier Point Trail system, on Nordic skis and/or snowshoes.
- 4,991 of you spun your way down the Tubing Hill.
- Together, you took 61,174 runs on February 10th, marking the most laps taken in a single day this season.
Community Programs:
- 3,342 Treasure Valley students from 58 schools visited Bogus Basin to join the Environmental Education team for SnowSchool (a 13% increase over last year!)
- 793 Treasure Valley high school students and 741 middle school students registered to participate in Bogus Basin’s School Race Program, enjoying an affordable, educational, and accessible gateway into social racing.
- 3,149 Treasure Valley students participated in Bogus Basin’s Life Sports (a 10% increase over last year), enjoying discounted* lift tickets and rentals while experiencing the joys of winter recreation.
- 11 community partners hosted numerous events at Bogus Basin, including our non-profit friends from: The Phoenix, Family Advocates, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Mission43, Challenged Athletes Foundation, and SheJumps, and our community partners at: Boise State Outdoor Program, Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce, The 366th Fighter Squadron, Dawson Taylor, and Idaho Central Credit Union (ICCU).
*Participants in Bogus Basin’s Life Sports program paid just $42 for their all-inclusive day of skiing/boarding at the mountain (a retail value of $220). In addition, 8 participating schools received full scholarships to fund their visit to Bogus Basin at no cost.
Mountain Operations
This Winter Season:
- You rode the lifts 3,430,934 times.
- Your favorite lift was Deer Point Express– which you rode 1,237,750 times this Winter Season– followed by Morning Star (1,065,762), and Superior (508,996) chairlifts.
- Meanwhile, you enjoyed 255″ of fresh pow and 142 days of access to fun, affordable mountain recreation at your local mountain.

In February 2024, Bogus Basin made the exciting announcement that the iconic Coach and Bitterroot (#5) chairlifts will be replaced with state-of-the-art Skytrac 4-person lifts.
For over 50 years, the Bitterroot and Coach chairs have been integral parts of the Bogus Basin landscape, serving generations of outdoor enthusiasts. Now, you have the exciting opportunity to own a cherished piece of Bogus Basin!
As the 2023-2024 winter season came to a close, the removal of these historic chairlifts got underway. Now, Bogus Basin invites you to participate in preserving the mountain legacy by bidding on a chair to call your own! These chairs aren’t just pieces of equipment—they’re conversation starters, porch swings, or benches that bring the essence of Bogus Basin into your home or business, allowing you to forge a deeper connection with the mountain and share a slice of its rich history.

About Bogus Basin
Opened in 1942, Bogus Basin winter operations offer 2,600 acres of daytime skiable terrain and 200+ acres for night skiing; eleven lifts – including four high-speed quads – and three people-mover surface lifts; an 800-foot tubing hill. The Nordic Center offers 37 kilometers of groomed trails. Environmental education and community outreach programs serve over 20,000 individuals annually, primarily youth. Bogus Basin is located 16.5 miles north of Boise, Idaho, and operates under a special use permit with the Boise National Forest.
Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area is one of the largest non-profit recreation areas in the country. It is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to engaging the community to provide accessible, affordable, and fun year-round mountain recreation and education. Bogus Basin summer activities include a challenge course, mountain coaster, summer tubing, climbing wall, bungee trampoline, gem panning station, The Basin Gravity Park, cross-country mountain biking and hiking, free community events and educational programs, chairlift service to access hiking and biking trails, and guided nature hikes.
