2024 appears to be off to a promising start at Bogus Basin. With 65″ of fresh snow in January – more than November and December combined– plus, the opening of Superior Express Chairlift and the Tubing Hill, there’s no better place to be this winter than Bogus Basin!

This January:

  • 136,388 of you visited the mountain.
  • 132,139 of you rode Downhill on skis or a board.
  • 47,187 of you rode under the lights, opting in for twilight and moonlit runs.
  • 2,588 of you skied Nordic.
  • 28 of you participated in Guided Snowshoe Tours.
  • 1,691 of you spun your way down the Tubing Hill.
  • 116 of you joined the Bogus Basin Environmental Education Team for Trivia Nights on Thursdays at the J.R. Simplot Lodge and an additional 200 of you stopped by the free, Gear Repair Workshop on January 21st to learn how to repair and extend the life of your gear!
  • Together, you took 57,826 runs on January 7th, marking the most laps taken in a single day throughout the month of January.

This January:

  • You rode the lifts 1,026,010 times.
  • Your favorite lift was Morning Star Express– which you rode 351,400 times this January– followed by Deer Point Express (350,624), and Superior Express (137,135).
  • Meanwhile, you enjoyed 65″ of fresh pow and 364 hours of access to fun, affordable mountain recreation at your local mountain.

RECORD BREAKER

January mountain-goers earned themselves the fitting title of RECORD BREAKER. All you loyal skiers, riders, and tubing hill devotees out there escaped the valley like it was your job and took that job seriously– so seriously in fact set a new record– Sunday, January 7th marked the single largest visitation day in Bogus Basin’s 81-year history. Guinness World Records, here you come.

About Bogus Basin
Opened in 1942, Bogus Basin winter operations offer 2,600 acres of daytime skiable terrain and 200+ acres for night skiing; eleven lifts – including four high-speed quads – and three people-mover surface lifts; an 800-foot tubing hill. The Nordic Center offers 37 kilometers of groomed trails. Environmental education and community outreach programs serve over 20,000 individuals annually, primarily youth. Bogus Basin is located 16.5 miles north of Boise, Idaho, and operates under a special use permit with the Boise National Forest.

Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area is one of the largest non-profit recreation areas in the country. It is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to engaging the community to provide accessible, affordable, and fun year-round mountain recreation and education. Bogus Basin summer activities include a challenge course, mountain coaster, summer tubing, climbing wall, bungee trampoline, gem panning station, The Basin Gravity Park, cross-country mountain biking and hiking, free community events and educational programs, chairlift service to access hiking and biking trails, and guided nature hikes.
