Bogus Basin Awards Scholarships to Area Schools, Expanding Access to Year-Round Recreation and Education
BOISE, Idaho – Bogus Basin announced today the awarding of $18,300 in scholarships to schools throughout the Treasure Valley. The scholarships will fund 22 class outings to the area during the 2023-24 winter season. A total of 1,074 kids, ranging from elementary to high school age, will participate in the outings. The recipients will enjoy the opportunity to participate in learn to ski programs at the non-profit recreation area.

The students will participate in Life Sports and School Nights, two long-running Bogus Basin programs that focus on introducing youth to the basics of skiing and snowboarding. Last year alone, 5,555 students participated in these programs. Scholarship recipients, from throughout the Treasure Valley, were selected through a formal application process, ensuring that the support reaches those who stand to benefit the most. The scholarships can be applied toward the cost of school bus transportation, equipment rental, lift tickets, and/or a 90-minute group lesson.

This year, Union School, an innovative non-traditional school in Nampa, and Future Public School, located in Garden City, will be able to make inaugural class trips to the area. Bogus Basin is proud to engage with a diverse range of participants through its non-profit initiatives. About Bogus Basin
Opened in 1942, Bogus Basin winter operations offer 2,600 acres of daytime skiable terrain and 200+ acres for night skiing; eleven lifts – including four high-speed quads – and three people-mover surface lifts; an 800-foot tubing hill. The Nordic Center offers 37 kilometers of groomed trails. Environmental education and community outreach programs serve over 20,000 individuals annually, primarily youth. Bogus Basin is located 16.5 miles north of Boise, Idaho, and operates under a special use permit with the Boise National Forest.
Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area is one of the largest non-profit recreation areas in the country. It is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to engaging the community to provide accessible, affordable, and fun year-round mountain recreation and education. Bogus Basin summer activities include a challenge course, mountain coaster, summer tubing, climbing wall, bungee trampoline, gem panning station, The Basin Gravity Park, cross-country mountain biking and hiking, free community events and educational programs, chairlift service to access hiking and biking trails, and guided nature hikes.
