BOISE, Idaho – Bogus Basin announced today that the grand opening of its new feature attraction, The Mineshaft Challenge Course, is Saturday, July 1st. Towering above The Explorer Base Camp at an impressive 55 feet, the challenge course was intentionally designed for everyone – from seasoned thrill-seekers to beginners looking to push their limits.
The Mineshaft boasts three levels with ascending stages of challenge. Trained guides are stationed on the course to coach, encourage and assure a safe, positive experience. Each level offers 12 unique elements, such as cargo climbing nets, ladder bridges, barrel tunnels, rappel devices, high-level balancing features, and more. Guests are secured to a multi-point tether system, allowing them to move freely on the course while remaining safely attached. Once at the top, there are two options for returning to the ground: a smooth, vertical descent via an auto belay device or by soaring through the air on two separate zip-lines that are 180 feet and 160 feet in length.

Beginning July 1st, The Mineshaft Challenge Course operating hours are daily, 11 am to 7 pm. Advance reservations for 90-minute sessions on the challenge course are highly recommended. Guidelines and restrictions apply. Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area is one of the largest non-profit recreation areas in the country. It is a 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to engaging the community to provide accessible, affordable, and fun year-round mountain recreation and education. Bogus Basin summer activities include a challenge course, mountain coaster, summer tubing, climbing wall, bungee trampoline, gem panning station, The Basin Gravity Park, cross-country mountain biking and hiking, free community events and educational programs, chairlift service to access hiking and biking trails, and guided nature hikes.
Opened in 1942, Bogus Basin winter operations offer 2,600 acres of daytime skiable terrain, and 200 acres for night skiing; eleven lifts – including four high-speed quads – and three people-mover carpets; an 800-foot tubing hill. The Nordic Center offers 37 kilometers of groomed trails. Environmental education and community outreach programs serve over 20,000 individuals annually, primarily youth. Bogus Basin is located 16.5 miles north of Boise, Idaho, and operates under a special use permit with the Boise National Forest.
